Kaharlyk is situated 80 km. from Kyiv. It is worth making a stop here. The path the city covered from an old Rus settlement to the modern district center on the Rosava River is rather long. Students of local lore from the local museum will tell about it in detail (2 Kooperatyvna St.). After the Right-bank Ukraine was joined to the Russian crown, Catherine II presented Kaharlyk to a grandee of hers, Dmitriy Troschinsky, who laid out here a magnificent park, which 200 years ago could compete with the best examples of gardening art. Unfortunately, little has survived to this day – only the marvelous forged gates and pergola. The museum keeps the remains of park sculptures.
