From Sedniv we return to the highway Chernihiv – Gomel. It is 70 km. to the next town, Mena. First written reference to the picturesque settlement on a tributary of the Desna River dates back to 1408. From the 17 th century it was a little town where Nizhin, and later Chernihiv regiments were quartered. Today tourists come to Mena to visit the local zoo (32 Zhovtneva St.), which keeps several thousand animals – representatives of fauna from five continents. You must admit that such a great establishment is not typical of a small district center. It is quite easy to get there: the highway turns into the city’s main street on which the main entrance to the zoo is found. The picturesque outskirts and the satisfactory ecological state of the terrain promoted the construction of health-improvement establishments near the town.
