To get to the village of Parutyne you should cross the Bug estuary to the right bank and move southward. Archeologists discovered the remains of the ancient Greek city of Olbia in the southern outskirts of the village. The name of the colony that existed from the 6 th century B.C to the 4 th century A. D. means “Happy.” The digs were declared a reserve in 1926. The researchers of the ancient city state discovered the foundations of city blocks, temples, workshops, the ruins of the main square, remains of burial places. Olbia, which Herodotus referred to, was a city state of were the first to research the historical ruins at the close of the 18 th century.
