The settlement of Vorokhta will surprise you with a stone arched bridge (1894-1895), the biggest in the Carpathians, and the remains of pre-war villas. Vorokhta is a health resort specializing in treatment of consumptive patients. The traditions of mountain skiing lodges in Vorokhta started in the early 20 th century, when soldiers and officers of the IX corps of the Austro-Hungarian army started training there. The construction of elevators and ski jumps continued after the war. At that time Vorokhta turned into an important center for preparing Olympic reserve. The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin is an interesting memorial of the settlement. It was moved there in 1780 from the village of Yablunytsia. An iconostasis of the 19 th century has been preserved in the interior of the church.
